MUMBAI: Television celebrities have often taken strong stands for issues plaguing our society, whether it rape, injustice, domestic violence, or LGBT rights.

Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code was introduced in 1861 during the British rule of India and considered homosexuality an offense. The Supreme Court has upheld the Right to Privacy as a fundamental right under the constitution. The SC had also called for equality and condemned discrimination, stating that the protection of sexual orientation lies at the core of the fundamental rights and the rights of the LGBT population.

LGBT rights have always been a topic of discussion in our nation, and with the verdict passed in the favour of the group, telly town seems to be ecstatic.
