Meet Sudhanshu Pandey, the man of many talents. Actor, singer, film maker and host- the talented man has added many feathers to his cap. Choosy about his roles, Sudhanshu is currently winning accolades for his power-packed performance on Colors’ historical drama Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat (Contiloe) as Keechak.
Sudhanshu recently made it to the headlines because of his legal battle with film maker Rakesh Roshan. In a candid interview with Tellychakkar.com, he opened up about his career, his legal issues, his loved music band and many more. Excerpts from the interview:
Before Ashoka, you have done many films and television series, which one do you think proved to be a turning point in your career?
I would say that one life-changing role in my career is yet to come. I believe I still have a lot to give to my audience and a lot to perform. In acting you can never be definitive about which character can change the perception of the viewers about my skills. Hence, even I am not aware which role I would be remembered for. I am still waiting for that one role till date.
Even after being in the industry for many years, you could not enjoy as much popularity as many youngsters enjoy these days. Is it frustrating?
See, I believe that there is a right time for everything. I started my career very early as a model. Throughout my career, I learnt a lot and refined myself, which took time. On the other hand, the younger lot is already trained and is prepared. Now, after a certain phase in my life, I have matured enough to select the right kind of projects and now I am quite stable. Look at Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, at this phase he doesn’t need to prove anything, still is striving to excel. Even I believe in doing so.
You have donned many roles including being a singer, actor, filmmaker and host, which one do you enjoy the most?
The best part about being in the performing arts is that you can try out many things. Personally speaking, whatever I have done so far, I have enjoyed it to the core. Being from the creative field I have an array of options to try. I am sure that I can attempt many more things and I am going to do that in the coming days.
Your music band, Band of Boys, recently came together after a long time. So are you guys not planning to perform once again?
Of course, we are and that was the motivating factor to perform after a long time. We are soon going to release a couple of singles and we’re looking for a proper platform to announce our comeback. Post the show we have already received many invites for live performances. So, we are concentrating on those right now.
During your stage show, Siddharth (Haldipur) was not present, what was the reason?
(With a gentle smile) Siddharth is currently busy with his other projects, hence he gave the concert a miss. He will not be able to be a part of the upcoming projects of Band of Boys, but he will always remain a part of our group. I had decided to opt out and pursue other things as well and now Siddharth is doing the same. That doesn’t mean that we are not friends anymore, we are still a part of the same band and very much in touch.
Recently, the news of Rakesh Roshan filing a defamation case against you hit the media, what do you have to say about that?
Currently, a police investigation is going on and I am sure that the truth is by my side. My lawyer is filing a lawsuit against them. I am ready for a legal battle as I wrote the story, I drafted everything and I even approached Sanjay Gupta to be on board as a director. Apart from this, I don’t want to give any statement as that might create trouble for us. My lawyer will do the needful.
Finally, you even hosted a cookery show once. Aren’t you interested in anchoring now?
(Laughs) Oh my God, that was long back. That could happen anytime, if anything comes my way. I won’t mind taking up anchoring once again. It’s just that for the time being nothing is coming to my way.
Well said, Sudhanshu. Wish you fly high.
